After Surgery

After your surgery, you will be taken to the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), where we will continue to monitor your recovery.

Your surgeon and/or anesthesiologist will determine when you are ready to be discharged. Before leaving, a nurse will review written instructions with you for your follow-up care at home. Please feel free to ask any questions.

It is highly recommended that you have another adult with you for the first 24 hours after surgery. They can also assist you in filling any prescriptions provided by your doctor after surgery. You should not drive, operate machinery, drink alcohol or take drugs other than those prescribed by your physician for the first 24 hours.
